With the Eastwood Shopping Centre shop closed down, BBQ One’s main street branch offers about 15 to 20 seats. It’s not the cleanest nor best service-oriented place in Eastwood but if you’re willing to look past that, I would describe the food served as Chinese soul food. Rustic dishes done well and that pack a lot of flavour and contrast of texture. All this at a very reasonable price point, if you’re just hungry, what more to ask for?
CHINESE BBQ STYLE MEATS ON RICE
All the meats (soy chicken, BBQ pork) were above average, but the roast duck and crispy roast pork really shined here. The potion of rice and side of veggies meal is great value.
SEAFOOD CLAYPOT
Delicious warm fish stew-like dish perfect to eat with plain rice. The sauce was rich and viscous, fish fillets chucks, prawns and calamari all cooked well and if you’re a fan of tofu that’s just the cherry on top.
SPICY SPARE RIBS
These were freshly fried, excellent batter and seasoning that included five spice, shallots, sliced chilli and spring onion. The meat inside thinly cut and cook to melt in your mouth.
FREE SOUP
The soup starter is free, tasty stock served with white beans delicious and free.
Conclusion
It might look like any Chinese style BBQ place with the meats hanging in front window but it does deliver. If you cannot get a seat, take away is always an option and they are 90% consistent on the meat section.
Would I go again?
Yes.
